On Sunday, March 27th, the BOD met for both a strategy planning session and for our bi-monthly meeting.  Key highlights are as follows:  

• Summer meet schedule / location is on the website.    As always there could be a few updates / additions.
• We will undertake an SI website “revamp”.   We are strongly considering using Team Unify as the platform.   Anyone interested in helping, please contact Sally Taggart (sbtaggart@si-swimming.com) or Deb Baldwin (baldwindebra@ymail.com).   This will be a big project and having the expertise to do this is critical to the success.
• Coaches Association Meeting on Monday, April 4th @ 8:00 pm.    There will be a coaches association meeting (zoom call) on Monday April 4th; all teams are encouraged to send a representative.  For more information, contact Cathy Elgas at graniteswim@gmail.com

Our next meeting (zoom call) will be Sunday, May 16th @ 7:00 pm.   As always, these meetings are open to everyone.

The Western Zone Age Group Championships will be August 3-6, 2022 at Elk Grove Aquatics Center. This sheet will provide you with the time standards and information about making the SI All-star team. The application will be available at a later date.

The March SI BOD meeting has been moved from March 20th to March 27th.   The start time will remain at 7:00 pm.   

Additionally, there will be a working session on March 27th from 3:00 – 4:30 where the Board of Directors and any interested coaches, parents, or athletes are invited to work on long range plans around communication, DEI, and swimmer development and retention. 

Both sessions will be zoom calls and additional information will be provided the week of March 20th.

The Loungefly Lilo Stitch Backpack Full Size Disn for the 2022 SI President’s Day Senior Classic held 18-21 February 2022 at Brian Bent Memorial Aquatic Center in Coronado have been posted.

Walnut Creek Aquabears  took home the top team trophy with 1,563.5 points, beating out runner-up Coronado Swim Association-Team Elite (1,353.5) and third place finisher Pacific Swim (933).  Stephanie Iannaccone (Walnut Creek Aquabears, 121 points) was the women’s high-point winner, and Marcus Moore (Lakewood Aquatics, 127 points) took the same award on the men’s side.

Additionally, there were 10 new meet records set.

Friday – Positive check-in for the 1000Y Freestyle is required by 4:30 Friday. Warmup starts at 4:00p and the meet starts at 5:00pm.

Hello Everyone! I wanted to address some questions that I have received from a number of coaches.

1. We will not be capping the meet. We are running under the assumption that entries will be close to prior years (800-900 athletes) and currently have no plans to close the meet. If we see a large spike in entries that may change, but this is the current plan.
2. We do plan to run two pools, as has been done in the past, so the meet will NOT be flighted.
3. Relay only swimmers WILL be allowed to enter time trials. We plan to hold time trials on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
4. Please remind your athletes that will be 18 or older to complete the Athlete Protection Training BEFORE the start of the meet. They will not be allowed to compete if this is not completed. This is a USA Swimming requirement that has been in effect for a few years, so hopefully you are all familiar with it.
5. Finally, spectators WILL be allowed at the meet. We will have a separate entrance for spectators, and bleacher seating for spectators will be available.

The final results of the San Diego-Imperial Swimming-hosted Short Course Junior Olympics held 5-6 February 2020 at Granite Hill High School in El Cajon have been posted. Pacific Swim took home the overall team championship with 2,931 points. North Coast Aquatics took second place with 2,475.5 points and Ranch San Dieguito rounded out the top three with 2,265.5 points. Individual High Point winners were:

• Chloe Yoon (RSD) – 10U Girls – 113 pts
• Tristan Rousseau (PS) – 10U Boys – 120 pts
• Anita Qian (RSD) – 11-12 Girls – 117 pts
• Oliver Quinones (PS) – 11-12 Boys – 113 pts
• Cassidy Allison (CSTE) – 13-14 Girls – 117 pts
• Aslan Lofthus (CSTE) – 13-14 Boys – 113 pts

Additionally, 3 new SI JO records were set.
